What stands behind the label?

The Austrian Ecolabel is offered and awarded by Austria’s Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK). The label is awarded for various topics mostly in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

In the area of finance, the label can be awarded for sustainable funds, bonds, savings and checking accounts. The award of the label is based on various exclusion criteria as well as proof of positive social and sustainable performance.

The Ecolabel Austria distinguishes between general exclusion criteria and additional selection criteria for investment funds, which are evaluated in the certification with a point system.

The label is awarded by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK). This is a state institution. An eco-label guideline is issued by the “Environmental Label Advisory Board” and by a technical committee consisting of representatives, the administration, the social partners, NGOs and experts.
